The law firm associated with MC Mojave, the company doing free inspections for SCA homeowners, has taken strong exception to the critical story presented several days ago on Channel 3. One of our blog readers received the following letter from the law firm, Angius & Terry, and perhaps other homeowners have received the same letter.
As recommended by my reader, I am publishing the letter below in its entirety, without any personal judgments by me.
---------------
Dear Homeowner:
Please be advised that our firm is aware of the recent news story published
by Channel 3 News concerning MC Mojave's home inspections out at Sun City
Anthem. Currently, I am drafting a response to the story and demanding
that News 3 retract the story and issue an apology.
As mentioned in the News 3 report, MC Mojave is indeed a licensed general
contractor. (License no. 0025771). Licensed general contractors
regularly testify in court as expert witnesses on the issues of construction
defects and cost of repairs. For the reporter to have further suggested that an
inspection by a licensed general contractor is "illegal," was absolutely
ridiculous. The qualifications to become a "licensed home inspector" are
minimal in comparison to the qualifications to become a "licensed general
contractor."
Our firm also feels the published story is extremely one-sided. Many of
our Sun City Anthem clients are acutely aware of the one-sided nature of the
story and have already written to News 3 expressing their outrage. We
are encouraging all of our Sun City Anthem clients to email or write to News
3 to express their opinions and to request a more thorough and balanced
investigation. Moreover, we would like to encourage our clients to speak
with the News 3 reporter to illustrate the magnitude of construction
defect problems within the Sun City Anthem community. If you are interested in
speaking with the reporter, please contact Kimberly Victoria from our
office at (702) 990-2017 to schedule an interview.
In the mean time, please be assured that we will take all the necessary
and appropriate steps to protect your rights and to ensure that the
construction defects in your home are properly addressed. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact our office.
Sincerely,
ANGIUS & TERRY LLP
