When asked if I am a golfer, my usual reply is that I gave up the game because I had too much trouble with the windmills and clown faces. Also, if you spell "golf" backwards, it describes my skills on the course.
All kidding aside, it is sad to see Board candidate Bob Frank practice his version of revisionist history as he desperately tries to hang phony issues around the necks of his opponents.
The latest Bob Frank fiction concerns the circumstances surrounding creation of the standing Golf Course Advisory Committee, which is chartered to be composed of the presidents of the Men's and Women's Golf Clubs, along with a member at large who lives in a golf-course home. The purpose of this committee is to work with golf-course management to address issues of concern to SCA residents related to the golf courses.
Mr. Frank writes that he voted to create the Golf Course Committee, but Roz Berman voted against it.
But in fact, the actions of Bob Frank at the April 2008 Board meeting, where the matter of the Committee first came up for a vote, caused a one-month delay in creation of the group.
Why was there a one-month delay?
At the April 2008 Board meeting, then-candidate John Briggs rose from the audience to state that the meeting was illegal and that any actions taken at the meeting would be null and void.
Bob Frank then said he agreed with Briggs and therefore would abstain from all votes during the meeting.
The motion to create the committee failed on a 3-3 tie vote, with Roz Berman voting FOR the motion, not against.
The reason the motion failed is that Bob Frank, true to his earlier declaration, refused to cast a vote, with his abstention creating the tie.
Then, with a new Board having been seated in May, the Board voted unanimously at the May meeting to create the Golf Course Committee.
Nice try at inventing history, Bob Frank. What phony issue will you come up with next?
If any readers would like to see how these matters were reported at the time, you can use the archives list on the left side of the screen to go back and read my reports from the April and May, 2008, Board meetings.
Dave,
When the new Golf Course Advisory Committee is fully staffed and operational, please publish the committee members names and the contact point for resident input.
Thanks....
